Our Site supervision safety training scheme (SSSTS) course is designed for those who have, or are about to acquire, supervisory responsibilities and is completed in 2 days. Our course covers all relevant legislation and other aspects which affect safe working in the building, construction and civil engineering industries.

At the end of the course, you will have an understanding of:

  • Health and safety law and how it applies to supervisors
  • Your supervisory responsibilities in controlling site safely
  • Risk assessments and the need for method statements
  • Effective site inductions, toolbox talks and method statement briefings
  • Monitoring site activities effectively
  • Timely intervention when bad practice is identified
Progression

Natural progression from this course would be to attend the Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) or take our NVQ Level 4 in Construction Site Supervision

Important stuff

There are no formal entry requirements: however, you should hold or be about to hold the role of a supervisor and have a good level of English

For our online course you will also need access to a computer/ laptop and must have the capabilities to access a Zoom account with a stable Internet connection

The SSSTS Course pass rate is 80% (24 out of 30) the assessment will be by an end of course examination and the trainer review. You must pass the exam and pass all three elements of the trainer review

If you fail the exam depending on the mark it can be re-taken within 90 days - If you pass the trainer review but fail the final exam, you may re-sit the exam (depending on your mark). If a you score less than 67% in the exam, you must attend the full course again, before re-sitting the exam

Certification for this course is valid for 5 years. To remain certified in this area, you will need to take a refresher course before the expiry date on your certificate; otherwise, the full course will need to be retaken.
