Level 2 Award in Health & Safety in the Workplace
The Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace is a qualification aimed at all employees. It is intended for learners already in workplaces and those who are preparing to start or return to work. It is also very useful for young persons to raise their ability to identify and understand hazards when preparing for work experience and into employment. They will know that health and safety is the responsibility of everyone within a business, its contractors, visitors and suppliers. Its subject areas are regarded by the Health and Safety Executive as being important to maintaining safe working procedures in the workplace.

 

Level 2 Award in Health & Safety in Health and Social Care
Following the Department of Health code of practice, everyone involved in care provision needs the adequate training to tackle the risk of Health Care Acquired Infection (HCAI). This qualification is specifically targeted at employees working in hospitals and care homes in the public and private sectors.
Based on the first part of the CIEH Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace and the CIEH Level 2 Award in Hygiene, this qualification provides candidates with a good understanding and knowledge of health and safety in the health and social care sector.

 

Level 2 Award in Safe Moving and Handling
The Level 2 Award in Safe Moving and Handling is intended as an introduction to moving and handling activities for those starting work, returning to work or who need specific training in manual handling, as well as being a suitable qualification for refresher training. Learners gaining this qualification will understand that moving and handling must be carried out correctly and will recognise its importance in ensuring a safer working environment.

 

Level 2 Award in COSHH
The Level 2 Award in the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health is aimed at those learners who work in an environment where coming into contact with hazardous substances is likely. This includes workplaces in areas such as manufacturing, cleaning, healthcare, transport, utilities and office environments. It gives learners the knowledge and skills to recognise the risks associated with hazardous substances and how to control them.

 

Level 2 Award in Risk Assessment 
The Level 2 Award in Risk Assessment is designed to help improve the workplace culture for occupational health and safety by enabling learners to understand the basic principles of risk assessment.  It is aimed at those learners working in any environment who need to be more risk aware and raise their knowledge of risks in the workplace and basic steps they can take to control it. This includes workplaces in areas such as manufacturing, cleaning, healthcare, transport, utilities and office environments. It gives an introduction to the “Principles” of Risk Assessment and covers why assessments are necessary, the legal requirements relating to Risk Assessments and the simple process for carrying out a Risk Assessment in any location.

 

Level 3 Risk Assessment Principles and Practice
This qualification provides a thorough understanding of the main categories of accidents and ill health, their socio-economic costs of good health and safety management. It is designed for anyone with a responsibility to conduct risk assessments, such as: supervisors, site managers and managers, technicians, engineers or personnel contributing to the risk assessment process.

 

Level 3 Certificate in Health & Safety in the Workplace
The Level 3 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace is aimed at supervisors, managers, team leaders as well as individuals wishing to advance their health and safety knowledge. The qualification is intended for learners already working in the capacity of supervisor, manager or team leader and also those who are preparing to start work at this level.  Persons gaining this qualification will know that supervisors, managers and team leaders have legal and moral obligations to ensure health and safety within a business, and that this includes obligations to employees, contractors, visitors and suppliers. Its syllabus areas are regarded by the Health and Safety Executive as being important to developing and maintaining safe working procedures in the workplace.

 

Level 4 Award in Health & Safety in the Workplace
The qualification is intended for learners already working in the capacity of supervisor or manager and those who are preparing to start work at this level. Learners gaining this qualification will know that supervisors and managers have legal and moral obligations to ensure health and safety within a business and that this includes obligations to employees, contractors, visitors and suppliers. Its subject areas are regarded by the Health and Safety Executive as being important to developing safe working procedures in the workplace.

 

Manual Handling
This qualification is intended as an introduction to moving and handling activities for those starting work, returning to work or who need specific training in manual handling, as well as being a suitable qualification for refresher training. Learners gaining this qualification will understand that moving and handling must be carried out correctly and will recognise its importance in ensuring a safer working environment.

 

Asbestos Awareness
Employers are required to make sure that employees receive adequate information, instruction and training in the risks associated with asbestos, if they are likely to come across it in their working environment. Candidates will gain the required knowledge on asbestos awareness and will be aware of their role in the management of asbestos.

 

Working at Height
Employers are required to ensure that no person engages in any activity, including organisation, planning and supervision, in any relation to working at height or work equipment for use in such work unless he is competent to do so. By attending this course, candidates will gain an awareness of the risks involved, the legal requirements and an awareness of good and bad practice in working at height.
